Section 1 is on Fingerpicks/ Fingerstyle guitar includes a selection of the 700 fingerpick patterns from my new ebook "Rhythm and Picks". I play mostly fingerstyle guitar, and try to vary my fingerpicks as much as possible. There is a lot more than 700 fingerpick patterns to be found, and I keep adding to my list.

 

Section 2 looks at Rhythms.

 

Section 3 shows how major and minor chords are constructed.

Section 4 is on Alternative Tunings.  Although I sing folk songs, the sections on fingerstyle guitar and alternative tunings should be of interest to players of other genres of music. To date I have posted a fretboard representing each of the tunings I have studied. I intend to include some chord patterns in tab form for each of the tunings.

Section 6 consists of 75 or so flat-picking patterns.

 

Section 7 consists of a songs, most of which are traditional, but a few are mine.

RHYTHM AND PICKS (shown above) is an ebook and available on Amazon Kindle.  It is my second published book and it contains over 600 fingerpick patterns, most of which I devised. When I listen to a song and hear it's rhythm, I try to work out if and how different rhythms can be applied, so as to give it a different feel.

I refer to the mood, drama, and meter of songs as contours. When I play songs, I use and adapt picks to reflect these contours. My book explains how picks can be changed during songs. 

There are good musicians reproducing the sounds and styles of songs originally sung by other groups. My preference is to make the sound and playing of songs fit my interpretation, and my style of play.

HISTORICAL BALLADS AND SONGS OF THE STUART ERA (shown below) was my first published book. . It contains 187 songs covering the period 1586 to 1787, most of which are annotated. 

In this book I tried to represent the main historical events that occurred during the reign of the Stuarts kings and those of the prince's that sought to recapture the throne of England, Scotland,  Wales and Ireland.
